Day 1- Not to greedy, just some fundamental theories

After being a teacher of little kids for 4 years and not getting enough excitement to keep me interested anymore, I decided to follow my heart and chase my dream job as a graphic designer. At this point, I don't have too many resources or ideas so I started off with watching different tutorials and lectures online to get a more around understanding of graphic design in terms of what it is, what knowledge and tools are required as a designer, etc. I also started this blog as a journal to keep track of my learning. So what I have learned today: Graphic design, to put it in simple definition, is the art of skill of combining texts and images in magazines, websites, posters, and books. Some basic theories are

1.Contrast by using different fonts, sizes and colors to make important informations pop out.

2. Repetitions of colors, fonts to create consistency.

3. Alignment to group items and create visual connections.

4. proximity/closeness to group items of the same category to make it easy for eyes to scan.

5. Colors - complementary colors to create excitement through contrast

6. Analogous colors to create harmony

Okay... so far, a lot new information taken in. I will digest and hopefully put them into practice soon.
